The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to take on Russia in an international friendly on October 6 at the 44,000-capacity Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
Nigeria’s FIFA Match Agent, Jairo Pachon of Eurodatasports, confirmed the fixture on Tuesday.
The match will be the countries’ second meeting in 16 months. Their previous clash ended 1-1 at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium on June 6, 2025. Russia went ahead after Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi scored an own goal, while Tolu Arokodare restored parity after the break.
The friendly comes a week after Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Guinea-Bissau in Bissau on September 29. Four days earlier, the Eagles will begin their campaign against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Nigeria, who missed the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, still retained the Afro-Caribbean Unity Cup in London. The Eagles are ranked 26th in the world, with Russia 35th.
The October 6 game offers Nigeria another chance to test themselves against Russia.
