A man living with a disability in Edo State has voiced his anger over the rising cost of petrol, saying the price under President Bola Tinubu’s administration is making life harder for ordinary Nigerians.
The man, who lost both legs and moves on a small wheeled board, was wearing a customised top marked “Tinubu Nawa” after buying three litres of petrol for more than N4,000.
In a video circulating online, he criticised the government over the rising cost of living.
“You dey hear am? Tinubu want to kill people. Three litres being sold for over four thousand naira. Tinubu wants kill people,” he said.
“Tinubu no want take time. APC government no want take time. If I buy N10,000 now, it is for only jerry-can, five litres.”
He also said Tinubu should not remain in office beyond 2027.
“Eight years is not for you, na four years you will do. Tinubu, e no go better for you (Eight years is not for you; you will serve only four years. Tinubu, it will not be well with you),” he added.
His complaint comes as petrol prices have climbed to as much as N1,500 per litre in several states.
Reports showed prices of N1,460 to N1,500 in Kano and Sokoto on Wednesday, while Kaduna, Benue, Kogi, Plateau, Bauchi, Adamawa, Edo, Kwara and other states also recorded sharp increases.
In Edo Central, petrol sold for N1,410 to N1,420 per litre in Ekpoma, Irrua and Uromi, with some remote stations charging about N1,422.
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery also increased its petrol gantry price from N1,265 to N1,350 per litre from September 12. The N85, or 6.7 per cent, rise was its fourth increase since August 21. Its price had climbed from N1,165 to N1,350 within 22 days.
Some stations followed with higher pump prices. MRS sold petrol at N1,395 per litre in Lagos, while some NNPC stations in Ibafo sold at N1,380.
The increases are putting more pressure on transport and household costs, as petrol is widely used for cars, buses, motorcycles, tricycles and generators.
