I’m A Yoruba Boy; If You Give Me Black Soap, I’ll Gladly Collect It — Olamide Defends Yoruba Culture

Nigerian singer Olamide has defended Yoruba culture and traditions, saying African heritage should not be treated as evil or something to be ashamed of.

The singer shared his views while speaking to reporters at a movie premiere, where he stressed the need to educate people about the importance of their cultural roots.

According to Olamide, the aim is to change how people view traditional practices and encourage them to appreciate their heritage.

“This is really just promoting the culture and trying to sensitize people that our culture and our tradition is not diabolical”

He further insisted that Africans should be proud of their backgrounds, traditions and cultural values rather than allow them to be portrayed negatively.

“Our culture and our tradition is not to be d£monized. And we are proud of who we are, where we are coming from and everything about our heritage, our tradition and our culture”

The YBNL boss also made it clear that he has no problem embracing traditional Yoruba items, using black soap as an example.

“I’m a Yoruba boy; if you give me black soap, I’ll gladly collect it” he concluded.
