Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has pardoned jailed native doctor Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly known as Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki, and appointed him as an ambassador for youth reformation.
Nwangwu was one of eight native doctors arrested last year over alleged involvement in promoting money rituals, quick wealth and the use of human parts to acquire wealth.
During his trial, he entered a plea bargain and was later sentenced to 11 months in prison.
While serving his term at the Nigeria Correctional Center, Amawbia, Nwangwu was required to renounce his fetish practice and become an ambassador for youth reformation.
He accepted the conditions and continued serving his sentence until Soludo granted him a pardon under the prerogative of mercy.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Youth Reformation, Dr Nelson Omenugha, said Soludo visited the correctional centre and announced the pardon.
Omenugha praised the governor for extending his hand of mercy to Nwangwu and giving him a new role as Ambassador for Youth Reformation in Anambra State.
