Osun Election: Adeleke Reacts After ADC Claims It Worked To Help Him Defeat APC

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has denied reaching any agreement with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to secure victory in last Saturday’s governorship election.

The ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, had said his party worked with the Accord Party to prevent the APC from winning the election.

But in a statement released on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said he had no agreement with the ADC before, during or after the election.

The governor again gave God and the people of Osun credit for his re-election. He also said the ADC was not part of the rainbow coalition that campaigned and supported his bid, while thanking political partners who helped make the victory possible.

“I commend political partners who went all out to make Saturday a victory day for all Osun people. But we must clarify for the sake of history that ADC was never part of the alliance.

“Now that the election is over, I am a governor of all Osun people irrespective of political groups, religion or race”, the governor was quoted as saying.
