A 36-year-old woman, Anulika Onyeanusia, has been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command over alleged child pornography in Onitsha.
Police said Onyeanusia admitted uploading a video involving her eight-year-old daughter on a pornographic platform to make money. She reportedly told investigators she made as much as $300 from such content.
The suspect said the girl was her second child. Preliminary police findings also allegedly showed that her first daughter was subjected to similar acts, with the content uploaded online.
During interrogation, she reportedly blamed the act on the devil, saying: “It is the devil,, please forgive me”. She also claimed her husband did not know what she had allegedly been doing to their daughters.
Her arrest came after a disturbing video showing the alleged abuse went viral. Police said open-source intelligence helped trace her.
The command said four children, aged two, three, six and nine, were rescued during Thursday evening’s operation. Sex toys and other items were also recovered.
Police spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the suspect remains in custody while her husband is being questioned.
He said the rescued children would receive care, protection and counselling, with their identities protected. He also commended vigilantes, bloggers and residents who helped the investigation.
