Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, had a heated exchange with Channels Television presenter Seun Okinbaloye during Friday’s edition of Politics Today over his recent attack in Ado-Ekiti.
The disagreement started when Okinbaloye asked whether Sowore had provoked the thugs who attacked him in Ekiti State.
Clearly upset by the question, the activist accused the presenter of blaming him for the incident.
“Don’t ask me such a condescending question. I was attacked, I was beaten. You are asking me if I provoked them? That is victim blaming,” Sowore shouted.
Okinbaloye appeared surprised by the reaction and tried to explain that he only wanted to understand the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
However, Sowore maintained that the question was insensitive. He also accused mainstream media of playing down the incident.
“I came here to tell you that I was attacked and the police seized the CCTV to cover it up, and you are asking me if I provoked thugs? Is that journalism?” he asked.
The exchange lasted about two minutes before the video began circulating widely on social media.
Many Nigerians have since shared their views, with some supporting Sowore for challenging the presenter, while others argued that Okinbaloye was simply doing his job by asking questions.
The video has attracted thousands of comments across X and Facebook.
Sowore was attacked in Ado-Ekiti on Friday. He later accused the Ekiti State Police Command and the DSS of seizing the CCTV footage that captured the incident.
