The Federal Government has opened applications for its new consumer credit scheme for digital devices, known as the Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme.
The scheme gives Nigerians a chance to get laptops, smartphones and tablets through affordable credit instead of paying the full cost at once.
The programme was launched on Tuesday in Abuja by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, alongside the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP), Uzoma Nwagba. It is being run by CREDICORP in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
C.L.I.C.K.D. starts with locally assembled laptops as CREDICORP focuses on supporting local manufacturing.
How to apply
Visit credicorp.ng/clickd and open the official C.L.I.C.K.D. page. Click “I’m Interested” to access the application form.
Applicants will be asked to provide their state of residence, employment status, optional monthly income, digital talent programme, device needed, reason for requesting the device, and how they heard about C.L.I.C.K.D.
Before submitting, applicants must tick three boxes to confirm the information is correct, agree to be contacted about the application, and allow CREDICORP and its partners to use their details to assess eligibility.
Who qualifies for now
The first phase is limited to 1,000 laptops for fellows of the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme.
Nwagba said the rollout began in Abuja, where 77 beneficiaries received laptops, while the rest will be shared with qualified fellows in other states in stages.
CREDICORP used a similar approach when it launched its main consumer credit scheme in April 2024, starting with federal civil servants before expanding it.
Although the application form also lists Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, ALX Africa, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa and Genesys Tech Hub, CREDICORP has only publicly confirmed 3MTT fellows for the current 1,000-laptop pilot.
The corporation has not yet announced the interest rates, repayment period or down-payment plan for the C.L.I.C.K.D. loans.
