Liverpool are moving ahead with plans to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as they aim to strengthen their attack after Mohamed Salah left the club.
According to BBC Sport on Wednesday, the France international is Liverpool’s top choice to fill the gap left by Salah, who departed Anfield at the end of last season following a successful spell with the club.
PSG value the 23-year-old at about £145 million, which would break the British transfer record. Liverpool, however, hope to agree a fee closer to £100 million.
Barcola has two years left on his contract with the French champions, but reports say he is open to joining Liverpool and taking on a fresh challenge after slipping down the pecking order at PSG.
Liverpool’s pursuit of Barcola comes as the club looks to add more firepower before the new season begins. The Reds also looked at RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, but he is now expected to complete a move to Real Madrid.
Since arriving at PSG, Barcola has grown into one of Europe’s most exciting young attackers. He is known for his speed, direct style and ability to play in different positions across the front line.
Liverpool are now set to make an opening offer as they continue reshaping the squad and search for a long-term replacement for Salah.
