Bowen University has approved the appointment of Folasade Olapade as its fifth substantive bursar.
The decision was reached at the university’s 122nd Governing Council meeting held on May 21. Olapade officially assumed duty on Wednesday.
The private Christian university, located in Iwo, Osun State, is owned by the Nigerian Baptist Convention.
The institution described Olapade as a “seasoned financial management and audit professional,” saying her experience would support accountability and improve operational efficiency.
Her career at Bowen University began in 2010 during her mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, when she worked with the Internal Audit Unit. She became Internal Auditor II in 2012.
She later served as Chief Internal Auditor in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Principal Internal Auditor and Senior Internal Auditor before becoming Deputy Director of Internal Audit in March 2024.
Beyond her official duties, Olapade promoted Christian values as Treasurer of the Bowen University Staff Cooperative Investment and Credit Society and a mentor at the Bowen Mentorship Bootcamp.
She holds a National Diploma in Accountancy from the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, and a First Class BSc in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. She is also an ICAN member.
In April, she was invited to the University of Lincoln, UK, to gain insights into financial procedures and processes.
