Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of Spanish World Cup-winning forward Ferran Torres, with the attacker joining the French champions on a contract until 2031.
The club confirmed the move on its official website on Saturday, adding that Torres will wear the number nine shirt.
Born in Foios, Spain, on February 29, 2000, Torres started playing football through futsal before joining Valencia CF’s academy at seven.
He made history in December 2017 when he became the first player born in the 21st century to play in La Liga, making his debut against Eibar.
Torres made 97 appearances for Valencia and won the Copa del Rey in 2019 before joining Manchester City in 2020.
“In 97 matches for Valencia, Ferran Torres left a lasting impression and set a number of new records for his age, becoming, at 19 years and 324 days, the youngest player in the club’s history to have played 50 league matches, as well as the first goalscorer born in the 21st century in the Champions League for a Spanish club,” PSG said.
At City, he scored 16 goals and provided four assists in 43 appearances, helping the club reach the 2021 Champions League final and win the Premier League and League Cup.
Torres joined Barcelona in the 2021–22 winter window and became an important part of the attack.
PSG said: “In 207 matches for FC Barcelona, he found the net 65 times, including in the Copa del Rey final victory against Real Madrid in 2025, where he helped his team force the game into extra time.”
He won three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups with Barcelona.
Torres has earned 65 caps for Spain. He won the Nations League in 2023 and the European Championship in 2024 before adding the World Cup this summer.
“Just this summer, in North America, the Valencia-born player won the World Cup and helped Spain add a second star to their shirt.
“Ferran Torres etched his name into the history books by scoring the only goal of the final in extra time as La Roja defeated Argentina, also earning him the Man of the Match award,” the club said.
Torres said, “I’m delighted to be beginning a new adventure at such an ambitious club as Paris Saint-Germain.
“I’d like to thank President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos and coach Luis Enrique for giving me the opportunity to join the team, which I hope to help win as many trophies as possible.”
He now begins his PSG career in Paris, wearing the number nine shirt and remaining under contract until 2031.
