Award-winning Nigerian singer Davido and human rights activist Omoyele Sowore have clashed on social media over comments about Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle.

The dispute started after Sowore criticised Adeleke during a recent interview on the upcoming Osun governorship election.

Sowore called the governor “brainless” and said he had “nothing upstairs”. He also attacked the state of infrastructure in Osogbo, the state capital, describing the city as a “war zone”.

Davido later shared part of the interview on X and called Sowore an “Arindin”, a Yoruba word used for someone seen as foolish or unintelligent.

Sowore hit back, saying the description was more fitting for Adeleke.

He also attacked the governor’s political record, especially his decision to back President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

Sowore accused the Adeleke family of treating Osun as a “private estate” to fund their lifestyle, calling them “oppressive, corrupt, incompetent, and entitled”.

Responding to Davido, Sowore wrote: “The real arindin is your uncle, @AAdeleke_01, who had to go back and obtain the equivalent of a GED after he had already served as a Nigerian Senator,”

He added: “The real arindin is your uncle who chose @officialABAT as his presidential candidate, apparently hoping that imbecilic political loyalty would allow your family to continue treating Osun state as a private estate to finance your extravagant lifestyle.

“All of you are the same anyway, oppressive, corrupt, incompetent, and entitled spoilt brats, feeding off the pain, suffering, and sorrow of Nigerians. But the tables will turn. The Nigerian people will not endure this forever.”
