President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that God has answered his prayer to remain in office, reaffirming his commitment to Nigeria and its development.
The President made this known on Monday while speaking about his recent spiritual trip to Saudi Arabia for Umrah. During the visit, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud granted Tinubu and members of his Nigerian delegation special permission to pray inside the Holy Ka’abah in Makkah.
Sheikh Dahlulah Muthawal of Masjid al-Haram led the President into the sacred site, where he offered prayers of gratitude to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to lead Nigeria.
Tinubu expressed appreciation to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the rare privilege, describing the experience as historic and a reflection of the strong relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
“I want to say a big thank you for the faith, for the recognition. I can’t believe the fencing of the Ka’abah is in Green-White-Green, which reminds us of the Nigerian identity.”
He also thanked the Saudi royal family for their hospitality and recognition, adding that he prayed for wisdom and strength to continue serving Nigerians.
“It is an honour that I enjoyed, and it is gracious of them to have allowed me to enter inside the Ka’abah. This is history. Well, I asked for wisdom and resilience to continue to serve the people. I know that prayer has been granted. Before the 2023 election, I did the same thing. I asked Allah to bless my Umrah then, and He did. And I promised that I would come back to thank Him.”
Tinubu said his faith had strengthened his belief that becoming Nigeria’s President was a special blessing that must come with responsible leadership and dedicated service.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to Project Nigeria, promising to pursue prosperity, national development and shared progress.
On the economy, the President expressed confidence in the country’s progress, describing its economic foundation as solid.
“The foundation is solid, and the economy has come out of the dark tunnel. This is inspiring,” he said.
He further stressed the need to invest in young Nigerians, warning that today’s leaders would be remembered by the opportunities they create for future generations.
“We need to build a future for our youth. If we don’t invest in their future, how do we want to be remembered as leaders 50 years from now? That’s the main thing. So this is a rare privilege to lead the country,” the President added.
