Street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has said no Nigerian artist can win a Grammy without working with him.
The singer made the claim while speaking on Rubbin’ Minds on Channels Television, where he described himself as a powerful force in the music industry.
“If any artiste wants to collect Grammy in this Nigeria, if you don’t feature me, you’d not collect Grammy. If you want to collect a Grammy nomination, come and feature me. I am the new face—new born Fela. See my style. I have lookalike like thousand look alike. Even many people are looking up to me,” he said.
Portable also spoke about his growing involvement in celebrity boxing. According to him, his music career has helped promote boxing in Nigeria.
“I am going for music tour. Now, I have tried for Nigeria. I use my music career to build Nigeria boxing. In 2026, which boxer can come out to say they collected money more than me in this Nigeria? Who has collected more than N100 million? Who has grace like me? I’m a superstar,” he added.
The controversial singer will return to the ring against actor Charles Okocha on July 31 in a rematch tagged ‘Unfinished Business.’ The fight will take place at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
