A Nigerian man has drawn mixed reactions on social media after a video showed him destroying his academic certificates out of frustration over his inability to benefit from his education.
In the video, which has spread widely online, the man disclosed that he graduated with a Second Class Upper degree in Psychology.
He was seen tearing documents believed to be the original copies of his BSc degree certificate, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate, and West African Examinations Council (WAEC) results.
The visibly upset graduate complained that all the years and hard work he put into his education had brought him nothing.
He expressed disappointment that his qualifications, which he worked hard to earn, had failed to “favour” him in real life.
His action has since divided opinions online, with some social media users expressing sympathy and linking his frustration to the difficult situation faced by unemployed graduates.
Others, however, questioned whether the certificates he destroyed were genuine original documents or merely colour photocopies.
