Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has distanced herself from the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, saying she is staying out of politics.
Her name appeared on a list of entertainers under the party’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate ahead of the 2027 elections. But on Thursday, Abraham asked the public to disregard the reported appointment.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote in an Instagram Story.
Her reaction came shortly after the campaign council list was released by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre. The council is set for formal inauguration on Friday, September 18, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
The directorate lists Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director, veteran actor Jide Kosoko as Co-Director and actress Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director. Akeem Alimi, known as Ajala Jalingo, is Secretary, while Dare Olateju is Assistant Secretary.
Others listed include Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri, Tayo Sobola, Bimbo Akintola, Abiola Adebayo, Remi Oshodi and Foluke Daramola.
Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere, Adewale Ayuba, Sulaimon Alao Adekunle (Malaika), Akorede Babatunde Okunola (Osupa) and Temitope Adekunle (Small Doctor) are also listed.
Despite her name appearing on the list, Abraham said she does not consider herself a member of the council.
