Shock As Nigerian Influencer Dies the Death She Feared Most Weeks After Posting About It (PHOTO)

The death of fast-rising Nigerian Twitter influencer and chef Esther Meinzide, popularly known as Big Esther, has left many in shock after a fatal road crash near Bethel, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Esther reportedly died alongside her sister in the accident, which happened at about 4:55pm on Wednesday on a wet, rainy road.

A preliminary report from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the crash involved a high-speed head-on collision with a Sino Gas truck. Nine people died in the accident, including three males and six females.

Esther, who used the X handle @BigEsther30, was said to be travelling to Delta State with her sister when the crash occurred.

The young influencer was a recent Philosophy graduate of Delta State University, Abraka. She had also been building a following on social media while pursuing her passion for cooking.

The victims’ bodies were taken to the General Hospital morgue in Ijebu-Ode. The two vehicles involved were towed to the Ilese Police Station.

The tragedy has led to an outpouring of grief online, especially after reports that Esther had tweeted barely a month before her death about the type of death she feared most — the same type of death reportedly involved in the crash.
