Bukayo Saka scored the only goal as Arsenal secured a 1-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa on Monday night.
The Gunners travelled to Villa Park seeking a response after suffering a 2-1 defeat at the same venue last season.
Arsenal had started their campaign strongly with a 3-0 win over Coventry City, but Mikel Arteta’s side faced a tougher test against Villa.
Neither team could break the deadlock in the first half, with both sides failing to register a shot on target.
Saka eventually settled the contest after Arsenal produced a fine attacking move down the left. The England star bundled the ball into the net to give the Gunners all three points.
The victory moves Arsenal joint-top of the Premier League alongside Manchester City. However, the Gunners sit second because of goal difference.
