A federal jury in Los Angeles has found Grammy-winning rapper Lil Durk not guilty of charges tied to the 2022 shooting of rival rapper Quando Rondo.
Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, was cleared of conspiracy, stalking resulting in death and murder-for-hire charges after three days of jury deliberations.
The shooting happened at a Los Angeles gas station. Rondo survived, but his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, popularly known as Lul Pab, was killed.
Prosecutors claimed Durk funded and directed the attack as revenge for the 2020 killing of his close friend and fellow rapper, King Von. They said several men travelled to Los Angeles, followed Rondo and his group, then opened fire on their vehicle.
Durk will remain in custody as he awaits a separate trial on a racketeering charge. He has been jailed since his 2024 arrest.
His co-defendants, Deandre Wilson and David Lindsey, were convicted on three stalking-related charges but cleared of murder-for-hire.
“We thank the jury for seeing there was no murder for hire,” Wilson’s lawyer, Craig Harbaugh, said.
Durk’s lawyers did not immediately comment. Ye and Machine Gun Kelly attended parts of the two-week trial.
Durk won a Grammy for his 2023 hit, All My Life, featuring J. Cole. Prosecutors are expected to continue with the racketeering case.
