Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested 36-year-old Muyideen Olatunbosun during an intelligence-led patrol in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The arrest was carried out as part of efforts to tackle cultism and other criminal activities across Lagos.
According to a Tuesday statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, police operatives were patrolling Idi-Iroko, Ogolonto and Agric areas when they received intelligence that led to Olatunbosun’s arrest.
A search of the suspect reportedly uncovered a rubber-made pistol, an axe, criminal charms and an illicit drug identified by the police as “Ice.”
The suspect remains in police custody and is helping investigators with the ongoing probe. The Command said efforts were also being made to arrest other members of the alleged cult group linked to him.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, praised the officers involved for their vigilance and quick response to credible intelligence.
Fatai said the Command would continue intelligence-led operations against cultism and other crimes across the state.
He also urged residents to keep providing timely and credible information to the police to support efforts to prevent crime and arrest suspected criminals.
