Nigerian dancer and entertainer Poco Lee, whose real name is Pascal Odinaka Iweh, has been nominated for the 2026 Headies Awards.
Poco Lee, Shoday and Rahman Jago received a nomination in the Song of the Year category for their song, ‘Hey Jago’, according to the list of nominees released on Tuesday.
The nomination comes as Poco Lee faces public scrutiny over allegations of sexual assault.
Earlier this month, reports emerged that the dancer had allegedly been arrested in the United Kingdom, but details about the case remain unclear.
Poco Lee is expected to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court in London in September for a plea hearing.
Benjamin Kuti, founder of the community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom and popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby, confirmed the development in a Monday tweet, saying, “Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison. His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing.”
Other songs nominated in the Song of the Year category include Kunmie’s ‘Arike’, Ayra Starr’s ‘Hot Body’, Fido’s ‘Joy Is Coming’, Asake and Wizkid’s ‘MMS’, and Davido and Omah Lay’s ‘With You’.
The 2026 Headies Awards ceremony is scheduled to hold in Canada.
