While some reports had claimed that Nigerian socialite and dancer Iweh Pascal Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, is in a UK prison, Snaresbrook Crown Court has now confirmed that he is due to appear before the court over an assault allegation.
The London court confirmed this in a correspondence with the PUNCH on Tuesday after an inquiry was made about the alleged sexual assault involving the socialite.
The court’s Admin Team Lead, James Baker, said the case is listed for plea and trial preparation on September 15, 2026. However, he said the exact time and courtroom would only be available a day before the hearing.
He wrote, “OFFICIAL. Good afternoon. I can confirm that this case is currently listed at Snaresbrook Crown Court for plea and trial preparation on the 15th September 2026.
“Criminal Court hearings are open to the public. Precise times and courtroom information will not be available until the day before the hearing. Many thanks.”
Earlier, the founder of the Community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, Benjamin Kuti, aka Oluomo of Derby, had said Poco Lee was on remand in a UK prison and would appear in court on September 15 at 10 am.
Kuti said he knew about the case because he regularly attends court proceedings and supports Nigerians facing legal issues in the UK.
“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison. His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing,” he said.
He explained that a plea hearing normally involves the accused entering a guilty or not-guilty plea. Kuti also said he planned to attend the proceedings to support members of the Nigerian community.
