Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, on Sunday visited the family of late Yoruba Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, in Lagos to offer her condolences.
Musawa announced the visit in a social media post alongside photographs from the condolence visit. The late actor’s family received the minister, while his colleague, Jide Kosoko, was also present.
Musawa described Ogogo’s death as a great loss to Nigeria’s creative community. She said his contribution to Nollywood and commitment to the Nigerian arts would remain an important part of the country’s creative heritage.
She also conveyed the condolences of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, her ministry and Nigerians to the deceased actor’s family.
In her post, Musawa said, “I paid a condolence visit to the bereaved family of the late Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, a renowned and respected figure in Nigeria’s film industry.
“During the visit, I conveyed the deep condolences and heartfelt greetings of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to the family on behalf of the Federal Government and the Nigerian people.
“The passing of Ogogo is a great loss to his family, colleagues, fans and the wider Nigerian creative community. His remarkable contribution to Nollywood and his dedication to the Nigerian arts will remain an important part of our creative heritage.
“On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. May God grant the family the strength to bear this painful loss and grant his soul eternal rest.
“We mourn with the family, we honour his legacy, and we pray for comfort in this difficult time.”
