Kidnapped Woman Escapes From Abductors In Plateau, Lands In Hospital

A woman kidnapped by suspected armed robbers along the Kassa–Barkin Ladi highway in Plateau State has escaped and is now receiving treatment for minor injuries.

The woman was abducted on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, after suspected armed robbers blocked the highway with stones and stopped vehicles using the route.

Security sources told security expert Zagazola Makama that, “the woman managed to escape from her abductors in the early hours of Wednesday, September 16, and subsequently made her way to safety.”

She was later taken to a hospital in Heipang for treatment of minor injuries reportedly suffered during the incident.

The incident had earlier drawn the response of troops from Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace, stationed at the Alpha Guard location. The troops cleared the highway and found an ash-coloured Sharon vehicle without a registration number at the scene.

The sources added that “a security team has been dispatched to independently verify the circumstances of the woman’s escape and establish the location from which she escaped, as well as gather further evidence.”

Security agencies are expected to intensify efforts to identify and arrest the suspected kidnappers operating along the Kassa–Barkin Ladi route.
