Lagos socialite Afolabi Kazeem, popularly known as KC Luxury, has taken the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to court over his arrest and continued detention, demanding N190 million in damages.
KC Luxury is also asking the Federal High Court to order his release or grant him bail while challenging his detention.
He was arrested by NDLEA operatives on August 13, 2026, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while preparing to travel to Paris.
“This cartel leader did not walk into our custody voluntarily; he intended to flee the country on a business-class flight to Paris,” the NDLEA chairman said.
The agency said the arrest was linked to an investigation into the seizure of 184.50kg of cocaine. It alleged that the case involved an international drug trafficking network using Nigeria as a transit route for shipments to the UK, Europe and Asia.
NDLEA also said foreign currencies and luxury items were seized during the investigation, alongside searches linked to the case.
In his suit, KC Luxury said his continued detention without being formally charged was unconstitutional and violated his right to personal liberty.
His father, Eric Afolabi, stated in an affidavit that his son spent 14 days in NDLEA custody without being told the specific offence or taken before a court.
The family also alleged that NDLEA operatives searched KC Luxury’s residence at Movamo Court, Banana Island, Lagos, without a warrant and found no incriminating material.
Justice Friday Ogazi declined to grant the application ex parte and ordered the NDLEA to respond.
The judge directed the agency to produce KC Luxury in court at the next hearing, serve the documents within four working days and file its response within five days.
The case was adjourned until September 9, 2026, for hearing.
The allegations have not been determined by the court.
