A Nigerian woman, Mary Uzugbo, has called off her wedding to Okoro Peter just three days before the ceremony was due to take place in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The couple had planned to get married on Saturday, October 3, 2026. However, Mary said she made the decision to cancel the wedding after discovering that Peter was not ‘who he claimed to be.’
Although the development left her heartbroken, Mary said protecting her mental health was more important.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, she explained why she cancelled the wedding and all the marriage preparations herself.
“Hi everyone, I know you all are preparing for 3rd of October but I cancelled the wedding and all marriage preparation myself because I found out the guy am about to walk down the aisle is not what he claims to be,” she wrote.
“I am heartbroken because I can never believe such but it’s well. On God I stand and my mental health matters a lot before I lose it.”
