Hundreds of residents in Enugu State have taken to the streets to protest what they described as outrageous house rents across the state.
The protesters were seen carrying placards as they called on the Enugu State Government to intervene and find a lasting solution to the rising cost of rent.
Some of the placards also urged the government to regulate house rent fees and stop what residents described as exploitation by landlords and house agents.
During the protest, the coordinator called on more residents facing similar problems to join the movement.
“If you Know your landlord is giving you house rent issue, come and join us,” the coordinator said.
One of the placards carried by the protesters read, “Stop house rent Exploitation.”
The residents are demanding government action to address the rent situation in the state.
