Ex-Super Eagles Star Emmanuel Emenike’s Hospital Attacked Days After He Accused Governors Of Corruption

A hospital owned by former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike in Imo State has reportedly been attacked, days after he accused some state governors of mismanaging public funds.

Emenike raised the alarm in an Instagram post on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, expressing pain over the reported incident at Emenike Hospital.

He said he built the facility to provide healthcare for people in his home community after representing Nigeria abroad, playing professional football in Europe and winning the Africa Cup of Nations.

“After representing my dear country on the international stage, playing in Europe and celebrating the trophy of winning the Africa Cup of Nations, I chose to bring my experience and success home to Imo State,” he wrote.

“I invested in my community and built a hospital—a place where people could seek care, find comfort and hold on to hope. It was a gesture of faith in my people and a commitment to helping my home state thrive.”

Reacting to the incident, he said, “That is why the reports of what happened today 21st October, 2026 at Emenike Hospital are so painful. A place built to care for people should never become a place where patients are afraid and staff are left feeling unsafe,” he said.

He called for protection for patients and workers, adding, “Imo State deserves investment. Its people deserve safety. And every hospital should remain a place of care and hope,” he added.

Emenike tagged Governor Hope Uzodimma, the Nigeria Police Force and the Imo State Police Command.

On October 14, he accused some governors of having “zero plans” for their states and described Nigeria as an “embezzlement ground”. He also criticised security personnel for supporting politicians despite economic hardship.

On Wednesday, waste management agency personnel and police officers reportedly harassed hospital staff and patients and detained the administrator and cashier without justification. Emenike did not name any governor in his earlier criticism.
