Spain defender Marc Cucurella has kept his word by getting a tattoo of national team coach Luis de la Fuente.
The 28-year-old had promised to ink the coach’s face on his body if Spain won the World Cup. After Spain defeated Argentina in the final, De la Fuente jokingly said he expected Cucurella to honor his promise.
On Tuesday, Cucurella did exactly that. He had an image of De la Fuente holding the World Cup tattooed on his left arm.
“Promise fulfilled,” Cucurella wrote on Instagram, sharing short clips showing the tattoo process.
Real Madrid’s Cucurella also carried his wife’s pyjama top throughout the World Cup as a lucky charm. He started all eight of Spain’s matches as the team kept seven clean sheets.
