Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their six-month-old daughter, Fatima, have regained their freedom after being kidnapped in Kaduna State.
Sources said the family was released on Thursday and was heading back to Kaduna metropolis as of the time this report was filed.
Although details surrounding their release remain unclear, a retired security officer who had been working with his team to secure their freedom confirmed the development to Daily Trust.
The former security officer, who asked not to be named, said the victims were returning home in a vehicle driven by his driver.
“Yes, they are on their way back home with my driver. It was the efforts of my team and some private individuals that led to their release,” he said.
Zakka, his wife and their baby were abducted from their home in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on October 6, 2026.
Days after the abduction, a video showing Zakka and his daughter in the hands of their captors went viral on social media.
The footage drew widespread outrage across the country, with the incident attracting public attention as people reacted to the family’s ordeal.
The circumstances surrounding the family’s release have not been disclosed, but their freedom has now been confirmed.
