The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a newborn baby boy allegedly abandoned in Bwari Area Council.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, announced the rescue in a statement released on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
According to Adeh, officers rescued the baby on Monday, November 2, and immediately took him to a hospital for medical attention.
She disclosed that the newborn was found in a poor condition, wrapped inside a nylon bag.
The police spokesperson appealed to anyone with information that could help identify the baby’s mother to visit Bwari Police Station or contact the FCT Police Command Gender Officer on 08036259662.
She also called on Bwari residents to report any pregnant woman who suddenly has no visible baby bump or is seen without a baby.
Adeh further appealed to young women facing unwanted pregnancies not to abandon their children. Instead, she advised them to seek help from social welfare offices or police stations.
