Nigerian entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has raised questions about the Bible’s account of Adam and Eve, saying he has several questions for God.
Charly Boy questioned why God placed the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden, only to punish humanity after Adam and Eve disobeyed the instruction not to eat from it.
The entertainer said he had read the Bible from cover to cover since childhood. He also revealed that he spent about six months in a seminary while considering becoming a priest before changing his mind.
Explaining his concerns, Charly Boy asked, “Why did you tell them not to eat from the tree before they even knew what good and evil was?. Why punish them for being deceived by the serpent?”
He also questioned why the serpent appeared to have told the truth about the fruit’s effects on Adam and Eve.
According to the biblical account he referred to, the serpent told them that eating the fruit would give them knowledge of good and evil, a claim that appeared to match what followed.
“Why does it seem like the serpent was the one who actually told the truth?. Why make human suffering a thing?,” he further questioned.
