US-based cleric Prophet Israel Ford has publicly introduced his second wife, Shakayla Ford, to his church members, revealing that they have been married secretly for three years.
The announcement was made during a church service on Sunday, October 25, 2026, with his first wife, Lydia Ford, given the task of introducing Shakayla to the congregation.
Lydia described their marriage as “polygynous” and welcomed Shakayla as her “sister in marriage.” She also revealed that church members had unknowingly benefited from Shakayla’s spiritual ministrations over the years.
Shakayla later addressed the congregation, describing the announcement as “addressing the elephant in the room.” She thanked God for guiding their relationship and said that despite differing public opinions, they believe their marriage follows God’s will and reflects the true image of biblical marriage.
After the service, Ford shared a video of the announcement on social media, defending his decision to have two wives. He argued that religious leaders who preach against polygamy are teaching doctrines that go against the Bible.
In his post, the cleric wrote:

I understand that this is an unpopular truth that we have gotten away from and many Pastors will not preach. I have no plans to choose pleasing man over what God has revealed. People may not accept this and choose to disconnect, and that is ok! This life will be over soon and we can all laugh about it in Heaven.
