The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denied plans to bring back Monday sit-at-home orders in the South-East, insisting it did not instruct its members or the Eastern Security Network (ESN) to enforce the exercise from October 12, 2026.
In a statement, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, responded to an alleged police intelligence report dated October 9, 2026. The report reportedly warned that IPOB and ESN planned to resume enforcing the order across the region.
Powerful said the group had issued no such directive. He also denied claims that IPOB released a voice note or instruction calling for a return of the sit-at-home exercise in the South-East or Imo State.
IPOB challenged the Nigeria Police Force to present evidence supporting the allegations and explain why the reported message was linked to the group or ESN.
The group maintained that its activities remained focused on achieving Biafran self-determination through peaceful means. It also restated its plan to boycott the forthcoming elections.
IPOB further urged the Federal Government to tackle the economic hardship facing Nigerians, particularly hunger and unemployment. It called for measures to ease the suffering of citizens and address their concerns.
As of the time of the report, the police had yet to respond to the allegations or the claims in the reported intelligence document.
