A 27-year-old man, Muktar Shehu, has been remanded in a correctional facility in Yola, Adamawa State, for allegedly stealing 22 pairs of a woman’s pants for ritual purposes.
Shehu, who lives in Zango Ward, Jimeta, Yola North LGA, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court 3, presided over by Uwani Danladi. The Adamawa State Police Command brought the case before the court.
According to the First Information Report presented by prosecutor Inspector Danjuma Hamidu, Shehu allegedly broke into Halima Yakubu’s home on August 6, 2026, and took 22 pairs of pants and other clothing items.
The prosecutor said Shehu admitted during interrogation that he took the clothes for ritual purposes. He was charged with house trespass, theft and criminal charm.
Shehu pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared in court. However, the prosecutor asked the court to allow a witness to testify and support his plea.
Following the proceedings, the court ordered that Shehu be remanded in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.
