The Gwarzo Local Government Council in Kano State has sponsored 20 women for free midwifery training as part of efforts to support education and improve healthcare delivery.
The council chairman, Dr Mani Tsoho, disclosed this while presenting admission letters to the beneficiaries after the Gwarzo Area Security Council meeting on Tuesday.
Tsoho said giving women access to education, especially in healthcare, would increase the number of skilled health workers and help improve community health.
He also praised the Kano State Government for making education a priority, noting that investment in the sector was vital to improving living standards and developing skilled manpower.
The chairman urged the beneficiaries to stay focused on their studies and maintain good conduct throughout the training.
Some of the beneficiaries thanked the Kano State Government and Gwarzo Local Government Council for the scholarship.
They promised to take their studies seriously and use the knowledge and skills they gain to serve their communities and support the development of Gwarzo and Kano State.
The event was attended by the Vice Chairman of Gwarzo LGA, Speaker of the Legislative Council, political office holders, Hakimin Gwarzo, Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta of Kano, security personnel and other dignitaries.
