₦2 Billion Otilor: Nigerians Can’t Believe It as Artist Drake Loses ₦2 Billion Bet on Argentina Winning the World Cup

Canadian rapper Drake has lost a $1.5 million bet, worth more than N2 billion, after Argentina fell 1-0 to Spain in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Grammy Award-winning artist placed the huge bet on Argentina to beat Spain in Sunday’s final through the betting platform Stake.

If Argentina had won, Drake would have received more than $5.1 million. But Spain scored the only goal in extra time to lift the World Cup trophy, leaving the rapper with a painful loss.

The defeat has again brought back talk about the famous “Drake curse” — the popular online belief that teams or athletes backed by the rapper often end up losing.

This is not the first time Drake has lost a major sports bet. Earlier this year, he also backed former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor, who lost to Max Holloway.

The “Drake curse” has become so popular that fans created a website, TheDrakeCurse.com, to follow the Canadian rapper’s sports picks and betting results.

Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, is well known for placing massive bets on top sporting events. Many of those bets have gone viral on social media because of the huge amounts involved and the number of losses.

Spain’s win over Argentina gave the country its second FIFA World Cup title and ended Drake’s latest multimillion-dollar bet in disappointment.
