Nigerian comedian and actor Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has shared how a stray bullet nearly cost him his life during a brand activation outing on March 9, 2026.
Speaking in an interview on his YouTube page, he said the incident happened shortly after he and his team finished their work and were leaving.
“It was just a normal day, a day I will go out for any brand activation, until the devil decided to show up. We were done with the activation, we were already leaving, and all of a sudden, I heard a loud bang, it was just total silence in the car, and then I touched my hip and saw blood, that’s when it dawned on me that I have been hit by a stray bullet.”
Broda Shaggi said he lost consciousness on the way to the hospital and only wanted to survive.
His condition later forced medical workers to consider moving him to another hospital. He recalled sweating, holding his leg and hoping to hear a doctor say, ‘Samuel, you’ll be fine’.
At the second hospital, doctors quickly took him into the emergency room. However, he became worried when he realised he could no longer move his leg.
He also feared the injury could affect his comedy routines, especially his popular “Oya hit me” act.
Although his pain reduced the next morning, he began asking himself ‘Why me?’ He later saw the experience as a chance to rest after years of working without a break since 2018.
Broda Shaggi travelled to Dubai for surgery and has since regained the ability to walk and stand without crutches. However, he said he has not fully recovered and still uses crutches for support.
