A video showing members of the Agaji volunteer group of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), popularly known as Izala, chanting lyrics about attacking people in Enugu and Jos has appeared online.
The footage attracted attention on social media, especially X, on Sunday. It shows young men in brown uniforms and blue berets, reportedly belonging to the Islamic organisation’s Agaji volunteer wing.
In the video, one of the men leads a morale song that talks about getting an AK-47 rifle to attack people described as “infidels” in the two cities.
“He should be given AK47. He would then go to Enugu, the land of the infidels. On Sunday when they are worshiping and clapping, he would then open fire, so that he can kill the infidels.”
The singer later repeats the demand for an AK-47, this time mentioning Jos and calling for more people described as infidels to be killed. He then refers to the activity as training.
“He asked to be given AK-47 again. So that he can go to Jos and kill more infidels. That is the training.”
The date and location where the footage was recorded have not been independently verified.
The video has drawn reactions online, with concerns raised about the possibility of attacks against Christians in Nigeria.
