A Nigerian-born lady identified as Ira has sparked reactions online after she appeared angry during a TikTok Live session when she was questioned about her Nigerian identity.
A video shared on Instagram by influencer Tunde Ednut shows Ira being questioned by someone believed to be her friend or uncle over why she was denying being Nigerian despite being born in the country.
Ira appeared upset during the exchange, with the incident quickly drawing attention from social media users.
Many Nigerians in the comment section, however, said they understood why she might want to distance herself from Nigeria.
Some argued that if they were in Ira’s position, they would also deny being Nigerian, pointing to the insecurity and poverty affecting many parts of the country.
The video has since triggered mixed reactions, with some users questioning Ira’s decision to deny her Nigerian identity, while others said the country’s current challenges make her reaction understandable.
