A man has reportedly caused deaths and damaged several properties after allegedly stealing a Toyota Tundra truck from a car dealership on the Island during a supposed test drive.
According to online reports, the man visited the dealership and asked to test-drive the truck. However, once he got behind the wheel, he reportedly drove off without waiting for a dealership staff member to accompany him.
Efforts to stop him led to a chase, but he continued speeding away. During his escape, he allegedly hit people and vehicles, leaving a trail of destruction.
Some unconfirmed reports claim that people were killed and several cars and other properties were destroyed. He also reportedly rammed into the gate at the entrance to VGC.
In one video circulating online, a man explained that he joined the chase because the suspect nearly hit him while fleeing.
The chase eventually ended when the suspect crashed into a canal. Residents reportedly descended on him and beat him as he attempted to climb out of the dirty water.
Following the beating, the suspect was handed over to the police.
