Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has explained what caused his fallout with fellow rapper Odumodu, saying he discovered that Odumodu was dating a woman he had previously been intimate with.
Speaking on the Nevon Podcast, Blaqbonez said he did not know the woman was dating Odumodu because he never asked who she was seeing.
He said she later messaged him that she could no longer continue their friendship. Blaqbonez described the message as “performative” and felt she was trying to make it seem like he was the one refusing to let go.
He then asked her, “Who are you dating?” and found out she was with Odumodu.
Blaqbonez said he decided to respect their relationship and step away, telling her: “You guys won’t hear from me again. I will respect everything that you guys have. Peace.”
However, he said Odumodu called him shortly after and asked if he had been intimate with the woman.
Blaqbonez refused to give details, saying: “I don’t know what she told you, so I can’t answer this question and affect anything that you guys have.”
He said Odumodu replied, “Then we are enemies since you are not telling me. Peace out, bro.”
Describing his relationship with the woman, Blaqbonez said: “I can’t say we were dating or anything. It wasn’t official, but like, the best term to describe it would be like friends with benefits, right? Because we kind of like, were friends and we were intimate.”
He said he asked when Odumodu’s relationship with her began, but Odumodu refused to say, worsening the tension between them.
