Argentine goalkeeper Gustavo Tesonotte drew attention in Bolivia after refusing to try to stop a penalty during a match, in what appeared to be a protest against referee Arteaga.
Rather than stand in goal and face the spot-kick, Tesonotte moved aside and allowed the penalty to be taken, leaving those at the match with a bizarre sight.
The goalkeeper’s unusual reaction was reportedly linked to a refereeing decision that had upset him and his team.
The incident did not end on the pitch. The Bolivian Football Federation’s National Referees Commission later suspended referee Arteaga following the controversy.
