The United States has delivered another batch of military equipment to Nigeria to strengthen the country’s efforts against terrorism and other security threats.
The U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) announced on Thursday that a U.S. Air Force C-17 aircraft delivered the equipment to the Nigerian Air Force over the weekend.
AFRICOM said the delivery was made under a Foreign Military Sales agreement between Nigeria and the United States.
“Partnership in action: A U.S. Air Force C-17 delivers equipment to the Nigerian Air Force this weekend,” AFRICOM said in a post on its official X account.
The command said the equipment would support Nigeria’s counterterrorism operations and deepen the security partnership between Washington and Abuja. It did not disclose the quantity or type of equipment delivered.
The latest shipment follows increased security cooperation between both countries. In January, the U.S. delivered military supplies to Nigeria, while about 100 U.S. troops arrived in February to provide training, technical assistance and intelligence support.
Nigeria later confirmed plans to withdraw about 200 U.S. troops, but the military said cooperation in training and intelligence would continue.
