Tinubu’s Reforms Are Working, Insecurity Is Reducing And People Are Able To Sleep Well — Senate President Akpabio

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, says President Bola Tinubu’s reforms are producing results and that insecurity is reducing across Nigeria.

Akpabio spoke on October 2 after leading National Assembly members to Tinubu’s residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

He said the National Assembly would keep backing the administration, especially its economic and security reforms.

“We believe he’s doing well. These reforms are working and, as far as we are concerned, insecurities are abating and people are able to sleep well,” Akpabio said.

He admitted there were still “pockets of discontent,” which he partly blamed on the coming election period, but said the country was moving forward.

Akpabio also pointed to changes in the tax system, saying lawmakers worked with the executive to replace outdated laws.

“You’ve seen the reform in the tax system, with four major tax laws brought into the country at one time,” he said.

He described the National Assembly as a “worthy partner” in helping Tinubu’s administration carry out policies aimed at changing Nigeria’s direction.

Akpabio also called on Nigerians to remain united, saying the country’s survival as one nation after 66 years of independence shows its resilience.
