Seven people have been killed and two others injured in a multiple crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, said.
The agency said the crash happened at about 12:03am on Monday along the Ibafo-Lagos corridor at Kara, Ibafo. A statement by FRSC spokesperson Afolabi Odunsi said nine people, all male, were involved. Three vehicles were in the crash: a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC, a white MACK trailer and a Mitsubishi Canter with registration JJJ920YA.
The FRSC said seven victims died and two were injured. The Ibafo Outpost Command received the report at about 4:04am and arrived at the scene five minutes later. The crash was classed as a fatal multiple road traffic crash, with speed violation identified as the probable cause, pending further investigation.
Deceased victims were evacuated by the Ogun State Ambulance Service, while the injured were taken to a medical facility. The crashed vehicles were handed to the Motor Traffic Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Ibafo, for further action.
Ogun State Sector Commander Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi urged motorists—especially drivers of articulated vehicles—to avoid excessive speed, keep safe following distances and stay vigilant. He also warned drivers to be extra careful at night because reduced visibility and fatigue raise crash risk. The FRSC commiserated with the families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
