Portable suffered defeat in his celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha on Friday after he was disqualified for leaving the ring before the end of the opening round at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The fight, tagged “Unfinished Business,” was arranged as a rematch after Okocha claimed the result of their first meeting, which went in Portable’s favour, was unfair.
Portable looked to be in control before the contest turned into a wrestling-style tussle, leaving the referee struggling to separate both fighters.
The bell was eventually sounded to end the round as security officials and bodyguards stepped in to bring the situation under control.
During the confusion, Portable walked out of the ring before officials could restart the fight, drawing boos from spectators, including fans in the VIP section who had gathered for the much-awaited showdown.
Although he later returned after being persuaded, officials disqualified him and awarded victory to Okocha.
Before the fight, Portable spoke backstage while holding his son, saying, “I am not happy, but I want God to make me happy and my family.”
The result marked a turnaround from their first meeting, which Portable won, after the singer had insisted during the final weigh-in that he was still the better fighter.
