Scores of civil servants gathered at the main entrance of the Osun State government secretariat on Monday, awaiting the arrival of Governor Ademola Adeleke after his re-election for another four-year term.
The workers, alongside Accord Party members and supporters, occupied parts of Abere Road along the Osogbo-Gbongan Highway.
The crowd was seen wearing branded caps and vests while dancing to music as they waited for the governor’s arrival.
Security agencies, including traffic enforcement officers, were also at the scene to manage the congestion caused by the gathering.
Mr Adeleke, the incumbent governor and Accord Party candidate, won Saturday’s governorship election with 511,067 votes. He emerged victorious in a race contested by 15 political parties.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner in the early hours of Sunday.
Adeleke defeated his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
