Political activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has accused the APC of trying to remove Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, despite reports that the governor backed President Bola Tinubu.
Adeyanju made the claim on his verified X account, @Adeyanjudeji, on August 16, 2026. He said the APC entered the Osun race with a “double advantage” — Adeleke’s support base and the party’s own structure — but still worked to remove him.
He described the party’s actions as typical of people who are never satisfied, writing, “eating with the devil requires a long spoon.”
However, Adeyanju said he does not expect Adeleke to turn against Tinubu. “Will Adeleke now have sense and work against Tinubu? In my opinion, never. He will still work for Tinubu,” he wrote.
His comments have raised fresh questions about governors who maintain close ties with the federal government while facing pressure from political rivals.
The reactions on X were mixed. @Mraddressor agreed with Adeyanju, saying: “He will still work for Tinubu. David deleted all his tweets where he called Asiwaju out!!! In today’s politics, Seyi Makinde and Bala are the only governor that has Balls to look Asiwaju in the Eyes.”
@Agbomjrn warned: “Tinubu didn’t find his way, and people should not think this is the way the general election will be next year; they are definitely going to rig it.”
@Kokannigga9ja, @Newben82 and @greengizie also raised concerns about betrayal and self-interest, while @sodique_ questioned whether Adeyanju was suggesting there should be no election, stressing the need for a level playing field.
