Nigerian midfielder Quadri Liameed has been discharged from hospital after suffering a head injury that left him unconscious during a Spanish second-division match between Sabadell and Albacete.
The 24-year-old was injured in the 42nd minute of Saturday’s match at the Carlos Belmonte Stadium. Albacete forward José Corpas accidentally kicked him in the head while attempting a volley as both players fought for the ball.
A video of the incident circulating online showed Liameed taking the heavy kick just outside the penalty area before falling to the ground and briefly losing consciousness.
Medical teams from both clubs quickly attended to him. He was given a neck brace, placed on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to Hospital Quirón Santa Cristina for medical checks.
Sabadell later confirmed that the midfielder had regained consciousness and was receiving medical attention. The club also said the initial test results were positive.
In a further update posted on its X account on November 1, Sabadell announced that Liameed had been allowed to leave the hospital after all his medical tests returned positive results.
